Born and raised in Texas, Lynette Theisen knew she liked telling stories. During her two mile walk to and from school each day as a young girl, she would dream up various characters and stories in her head though she never really shared them with anyone or thought to write them down. Years later, when she felt a calling to be a published writer, it took her by surprise. As a matter of fact, she had resisted the idea entirely.
A stay-at-home mother of four, two teenage boys and twin girls, Lynette began questioning her purpose in life. “We all have a purpose, and I thought mine was to raise great kids.” But after months of still feeling that she was supposed to be doing something more, she realized she had a passion to write. As fate would have it, when the local owner and editor of her hometown newspaper needed a story covered, Lynette offered to take on the job without any pay. She was more excited about the opportunity to creatively express herself. Before long, she was getting paid for her stories and worked part-time for The Town Charter. She quickly gained popularity, which resulted in a weekly inspirational column. She also had several articles publsihed in the Denton Lifestyles Magazine.
When one of her readers approached her and suggested she write a book, Lynette giggled at the notion. “I didn’t have the confidence to take on such a tremendous task,” she said. Her lack of a college degree and professional writing experience spurred some of her self-doubt, squelching that notion immediately. However, when several more of her readers suggested it again, she became intrigued with the idea and considered it whole-heartedly. Being a spiritual person, she took her request directly to God and on February 4, 2008, wrote in her prayer journal regarding the idea. She asked God if this was His will for her life, to give her a very clear sign. That sign came three days later by way of a phone call from a lady who read her weekly column. She said, “You may think I am crazy for calling you, but I feel God has laid it on my heart to tell you that you are supposed to write a book.” After all of the goose bumps settled, she got busy with her new purpose in life.
Lynette’s greatest desire is that people will not only fall in love with the characters and storyline of this book, but that for some, they will be introduced to the Greatest Book of all time through the various scripture she included in it. She also hopes that many people can relate to the real-life situations and find hope in overcoming adversity through their faith.
Lynette currently resides in Denton County, Texas, with her husband, four children, and three dogs. She enjoys going to church and bible study, going to the movies, scoring higher than her sons in laser tag (though they will deny that Mom can beat them), fellowshipping--aka hangin’ out with girlfriends-- dancing around the house to loud music for some exercise and stress relief (a little head banging and air band to go along with it) and of course…writing! She is currently working on the sequel to Through the Night with the working title of Blinding Darkness.
